THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER

Tom Sawyer was a naughty and smart boy. He lived with his aunt, her name was Aunt Polly. Tom liked to play a trick to Aunt Polly and his friends. He also liked to escape from his school, and went out to have some good experiences. One day, he met the new beautiful girl and directly fell in love with that girl, her name was Becky Thatcher. He always tries to get her attention, but she never gave it. In the next day, he came late to the school, because he stopped to talk with Huckleberry Finn. Huck was the boy who hated by the entire mothers town, because he did not have any place to go home, did not wore the clean and tidy clothes, always did everything on his own willingness. When he told his teacher about what he did, his teacher was surprised. He disappointed to know that Tom was Huck’s friend. On that day, Tom finally get Becky’s attention, he was very happy until he made a mistake by talking about Amy Lawrence, the previous girl that he interested in.

Tom and Huck made an appointment to find the devil in the graveyard that night. But, accidentally they saw The Red Indian Joe killed Dr. Robinson, and he slandered Muff Potter as the person who killed that doctor. Joe saw that chance because Potter was drunk at that time, and told to potter that he did not realize when he killed that doctor. Tom and Huck back home in a hurry. They were so afraid about what they had seen, and they promised not to tell anybody about it. The next day, the town was surprised by the dead body of the doctor, and Muff Potter was jailed. In the days that followed, Tom looked so miserable, he always speaks and groans when he was sleeping. Aunt Polly tried to give some treatments and medicines for him. Tom condition’s become worst when he found that Becky hated him so bad.

Broken heart by all of that stuff, Tom asked Huck and Joey Harper to go to the Jackson Island, the unpeopled island. He felt there was no body loved him, so he decided to become pirates with his friends. Before that, they stole some of tools and foods to survive there. They have a great time, wasted time just for fun, swimming, fishing and so on. Until one day they saw many boats and people tried to find the lost people, and they realised that the people they were trying to find were them. Some days later they felt homesick, one night Tom went back to the town and found that everybody thought the three boys were dead. The next day Huck and Joey wanted to go home, but Tom held them. He planned to go home in the funeral day. Finally they went home and surprised people there.

Aunt Polly and the family treated him so well after that event. He went to the school and got much attention from all of the people without any exception, included Becky, but he ignored her. One day, Becky wanted to slander Tom by tearing the teacher’s book, but Tom reckoned it as his mistake, when the teacher nearly knew that it was Becky’s fault.

In the holiday, Becky went to the Constantinople to spend the days. It made Tom’s day become boring. He got illness and interested in nothing. The memories about Muff Potter came back, finally he forced himself to be a witness in the Potter’s session. He told people in the court everything that he knew. Suddenly The Red Indian Joe sprang a window and escaped. Tom become a hero, but deep inside his heart, he was afraid to Joe.

Long after that, Tom and Huck were going to find a treasure. They tried to find it everywhere, but they could not find it, until they decided to search it in the haunted house. Unfortunately, that house was Joe’s hiding place, but they saw so much treasure belong to Joe, and they planned to get it. When the darkness came, they tried to find another Joe’s hiding place. Actually it was a tavern. One night, Tom almost caught by Joe, but he could run away with Huck. In the next day, Becky had come and asked her parents to hold the party. All of the people were invited to that party. They hired a ferry and made a trip to hill and cave. While Tom joined the party, Huck saw Joe and his friend want to do the revenge to The Widow Douglas. She was very kind to Huck, so he asked help from The Welshmans to cover her. Joe and his friend escaped again. Huck said to Mr. Welshman that the persons were Joe and his friend, and begged to Mr. Welshman not to say anything about him. He stayed in the Welshmans’ house while Tom and Becky were lost in the cave. The entire people search them.

Tom and Becky lost their way because they took the different way. They wanted to see the contains of the cave, but they could find the way back. They trapped there without any food or candle for some days. Becky become weaker every day, so Tom found the way out alone by using the kite string, in fact. Joe also on that cave hides himself and his treasure. Tom was very afraid of him, and he become more careful to find the way back.  When the searchers had given up finding them, all of the people in town felt forlorn, especially the Thatcher and Aunt Polly. But, in the midnight they were surprised that Tom and Becky have found. Tom struggled very hard to bring Becky home.

After Tom took enough rest, people started to ask about that incident. Mr. Thatcher said that he had put the iron door on the mouth of the cave, and Tom remembered that Joe was there. Suddenly Tom and some people went there, and then they found Joe had dead. Knowing about this, Tom went to meet Huck, they planned to search Joe’s treasure.

Tom and Huck went to the cave. They started to search that treasure box everywhere. Until they dug near the rock, the place when Tom saw Joe before. Finally they found that treasure box, and hide it. When they back home, they met Mr. Welshman and joined him in to The Widow Douglas’ house. There they met many important people in the town, included Aunt Polly. She ordered Tom and Huck to tidy up themselves and joined the party. Mr. Welshman had told everybody that Huck was the person who helped the widow. Next, the widow asked Huck to live with her. In this occasion Tom said to the people that Huck and him were rich boy. He showed their treasure to all the party guesses. They were very impressed to those boys, and helped them to manage their money.

Finally Tom and Huck become famous people in the town. Although Huck did not use to live in a house with the widow, but he could change himself in to a good boy.
