PRIDE AND PREJUDICE (Jane Austen)

Everyone knows that a rich, unmarried man needs a pretty wife and every mother wants her daughter to be happily married. Mr and Mrs Bennet of Longbourn House, in the village of longbourn, had five unmarried daughters. So when Mrs Bennet heard that a young man was coming to live in the neighbourhood, she was delighted. She found out all, she she could about him, and hurried to tell her husband the good news.
On the following Friday, the assembly room in the town of Meryton were crowded. Everyone stared as Mr Bingley came in with two ladies and two gentlemen. The fashionably dressed young woman with Mr Bingley was his unmarried sister Miss Caroline Bingley. The other gentlemen was Mr Bingley’s friend, Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy. He was tall, very handsome and from a noble family. People said he had twice as much money as Mr Bingley and had a large estate in Derbyshire. He was also unmarried.
One morning, , it’s from Netherfield Hall-from Miss Bingley, Jane said read the note aloud. Miss bingley asked her to come to have dinner over there. “Shall I go in the carriage?” Jane asked to mrs Bennet. “no,no,no my dear, you must go on horseback, it’s sure to rain, if you get wet, they will ask you to stay the night.” Mrs Bennet said. Not long after Jane left, the rain began fall heavily, Mrs Bennet was delighted.
In the next day, Netherfield Hall, , Mr Collin had chosen Elizabeth to be his first dancing partner, but Mr Collin was a bad dancer and her next partner was an officer. When the dance began Elizabeth and Darcy stood opposite each other without speaking. A few minutes latter, Sir William came up, he bowed to them and said”It is good to see you dancing, my dear sir, Miss Elizabeth Bennet is a delightful partner, I’m sure we will have many pleasant evenings here”. Sir William looked at jane and Bingley, who were dancing together. After talked each other, they finished the dance without speaking anymore, they were both unhappy. But Darcy could forgive Elizabeth because he was falling in love with her.
The next day, Mr Collins decided to propose to Elizabeth after breakfast, he found Mrs Bennet, Elizabeth and Kitty sitting together. “May l speak to your daughter alone, madam?” Mr. Collins asked. Mrs Bennet politely. He wanted to speak with her daughter Elizabeth alone, but Elizabeth cried as she stood up, she wanted everybody there.
Jane answered Caroline Bingley’s letter and waited anxiously for a reply, days went by, but Caroline did not write. People in Meryton said that Mr. Bingley would not return to Netherfield thar winter. Mrs. Bennet was very angry and she told everyone that Mr. Bingley would return. Elizabeth was worried, she began to think that Bingley’s sisters and Mr. Darcy were stopping Mr. Bingley from meeting Jane again. Elizabeth felt sorry for her sister, because she knew that Jane still loved Bingley.
In march, Elizabeth went to visit Charlotte and Mr Collins at Hunsford in Kent. She went with Sir William Lucas and Charlotte’s younger sister, Maria. On thei way to Hunsford, Elizabeth and the Lucases went to see Jane in London and spend a night with the Gardiners there. They reached the Gardiners’ house at midday, the rest of the day passed pleasantly and they went to theatre in the evening. Mrs Gardiner told Elizabeth that Jane was very often sad and quiet. Jane now believed that she would never see Bingley again.
Mr Darcy and Elizabeth met each other. As she did not speak, Mr darcy went on talking, he spoke well, but Elizabeth heard very little of what he was saying, but she heard the word “Pride”, “Position in society”, “Family difficulties”. Mr Darcy had decided to marry her, although he did not think it would be sensible marriage! He was sure she would accept his proposal!
When Elizabeth alone with Jane, she tod her about Mr Darcy’s proposal. Jane was very surprised but she tried to think of something kind to say. They were talking about Mr Darcy’s letter. But Elizabeth did not talk Jane what Mr Darcy said about her and Bingley. She did not tell Jane that Mr Bingley loved her, she did not want to be unkind. Elizabeth knew that her sister still loved Bingley.
Elizabeth very worried that she might meet Mr Darcy, but someone at the inn where they were staying told her that Darcy was away. So she agreed to visit Penberly. There was very large park around the house, as they drove through the park, they drove down the hill, crossed the bridge and drove up to the doors of Pemberly, she worried again, perhaps, Mr Darcy was still there after all. Elizabeth could not believe what the housekeeper was saying, is he really talking about Mr Darcy? She thought. She met Mr Darcy, they were talking a few minutes and then Mr Darcy bowed and walked away.
The bad news. Elizabeth got a letter from Jane. ”Lydia run away with one of the officer (wickham). Lydia and Wickham have not got merried”
Lydia’s wedding day arrived, they were married in London and travelled to Longbourn for dinner, all the Bennets were waiting them. They heard the carriage and Lydia’s voice. Elizabeth did not know what to think, Mr Darcy had helped her family so much.
Some good news soon reached Longbourn House. Mr Bingley was returning to Netherfield Hall and would be staying there for several months. Mrs Bennet looked at Jane when she heard the news. Jane blushe, but said nothing.
Lady Catherine came to Elizabeth’s house. She wanted to talk with Elizabeth, she warned Elizabeth not to receive Mr Darcy proposal of married and she asked her to promise “I will never leave until you say that you never engaged to my nephew.”
Darcy and Elizabeth together at last, they had married and Mr Gardiners had taken their niece to Derbbyshire.
