My Life as an Indian

In early age of twenty, J.W.Schultz (James Willard Schultz) goes west to Montana Territory in search of wild life and adventure. The first destination was Fort Benton, Missouri Territory, 2600 miles up the big muddy. He met of Indian person with their strange cloth. He was really interest to have relationship with them, and he want to know what Indian’s culture.

J.W.Schultz should join with Berry in the autumn, when he would begin the season’s trade with the Indians. He bought a lot of thing and pulled out of the town with Sorrel House. Sorrel House’s brother in low Lis’-sis-tsi (wolverine), he became great friend with them. They helped J.W.Schultz studies of the Blackfoot language. He had travel with them and hunting,

In the fort on the Maries, they met other Piegan Blackfeet, both of them is Weasel tail and Talks-with-the-buffalo. J.W.Schultz offered them to live together with him. They was accept Schultz’s offer. Indeed, they lived happily with Schultz’s friends. In other hand, Schultz had talked with a medicine man about tradition and attended the various religious ceremonies.

Hunting was Schultz’s activity with their friend. Usually, they got buffalo, elk etc. Schultz and his friend was want to be a really hunter. Far away, he and friend found a white buffalo. The white buffalo was taking by them, and used for their trip. For a few days, the white buffalo despaired, they look for in their environment, but they didn’t find it.

One day, Weasel tail was order Schultz to getting women. Actually, he wants to have women, but he thought that no one would have with him. One morning, he met a woman who’s named Nat-ah-ki. After that he was near with her and had good relationship with her. He had explained to Nat-ah-ki that he loved her. Nat-ah-ki was also said that she loved him.

In summer, a problem came to Schultz. He got letter from his family in England that he must come back to the country. His mother commended him to continue their company in England. He was really confused; he didn’t want to return to his country. He over loved became Indian’s people. In other hand, he wants to visit his mother. After thought about his letter, he had conclusion with his problem. He had back to his country and came back to join with Indian’s people again.

In England, his mother was really happy her son came back. His mother talked to him that he must continue their company, because he was the one whose became continue his company. Schultz talked to his mother that he didn’t want to continue his company, because he loved to live become Indians. He was really sorry to his mother. He must come back, and met her lovely girl Nat-ah-ki. After his return from England, he had married with Nat-ah-ki and lives happily.
